Completed Project

After allowing the paint to dry on the picture frame turned shelf, I decided I simply wasn't happy with the left over bubbles and knew I had to cover them.  I found a great print to decoupage on the shelf.  But first I had to teach myself how to decoupage.  And how to spell decoupage so I could look it up.  The results are below.

Materials:
  • Elmer's glue
  • Water
  • Foam brush
  • Scissors
  • Dixie cup
  • Paper towel
  • Print to adhere to shelf
  • Ruler to smooth out wrinkles (I actually used and old Blockbuster card.  I haven't seen a Blockbuster in a while, so.....)

Since it was my first experience with decoupage outside of a kindergarten class room, I stuck to only covering the bubbles that had appeared on the bottom shelf.

In the end, I decided I didn't want to sell the pair.  The colors fit me and they had become quite comfortable in my craft room.  So they stayed.  The shelf turned out to be perfect for my sewing supplies.

My new unexpected craft area!
